Just when we thought we had seen every attempt to oust Jeffrey H. Loria from his position as the undeserved owner of our ill-fated franchise, a normal fan -like you or me- decided to go several steps further and raise the issue to the highest political plateau.
Jeff G., who goes by the nickname @fourself78 on Twitter, created a petition yesterday using the We the People website, asking the Obama administration to force Loria to sell the team. The most impressive thing of all is that Jeff is… a Tampa Bay Rays fan.
@PhilBurger813 don't know i may be a #Rays fan but something has to be done—

I’d have never expected this kind of gesture from a supporter of our state rivals, but I guess common sense goes way beyond any kind of sports allegiance we may have. Kudos to you, Jeff, and I sincerely hope your petition will reach enough signatures to be reviewed by the White House.
UPDATE (January 24, 4:01 PM): The petition is no longer available on WTP. It was apparently removed because it violated the site’s terms of participation. It had collected a little over 300 signatures, way below of the 100.000 required to be reviewed by the Obama administration.
